Many housewives feel more at ease using a metal syringe than any other form of icing implement, because it can be firmly gripped and is easy to handle. Here, flow of icing is controlled by a plunger, with a resilient plastic washer which slides down the barrel of the syringe and prevents icing from rising above it.
The plunger passes through the lid of the syringe which fastens with a bayonet catch. The icing then cannot escape except through the tube which screwed to the other end of the syringe, under the pressure of the plunger.
