The reason that Karen had taken the day off
On Monday morning I drove into the Moreno Valley office with a box of donuts for my staff there. Considering I only have a staff of five, the cost of the donuts is not very much. It was then that I noticed that Karen wasn’t at her desk. I asked Todd, one of Karen’s co-workers, if she had called in sick. Todd said that Karen had found out that her mother had Alzheimer’s and that Karen took a day off to look at some alzheimers facilities. Considering my own mother developed alzheimer’s at a fairly early age, I was totally sympathetic and understood what she was going through.
